FEMA publishes Local Mitigation Planning Handbook

On June 12, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published the Local Mitigation Planning Handbook, designed to guide local governments and special districts as they develop or update a hazard mitigation plan and provide advice and approaches to developing their plans.  The Handbook is meant to be a companion to the Local Mitigation Planning Policy Guide, effective as of April 11, 2025, which assists local governments understand the requirements of Title 44 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and assist during the review and approval of local plans.
